2006 tranny leak

Hello All
Thanks for reading my post. I am brand new to this site and I could use a little help
Wifes 06 Eddie Bauer started leaking tranny fluid from the little black plug on the bell housing. She was not towing or anything out of the ordinary. Saw it smoking and pulled over. I towed her home and notice it coming out pretty good. Could it be as simple as a front seal?

front pump/seal, did it over heat or have you towed with it recently?
