I am looking at a 2007 EB EL with 159k, truck is amazing 0 issues except it had the rumble strip TC issue. Was going to buy until I felt that. Took it back to seller they had it flushed and He now says the issue has been resolved. Great BUT will this last? Has anyone ever done this? Can someone provide me this info please since I am supposed to go back in a few hours and buy, just nervous about the high mile flush. Thank you all in advance.

I would but I need this to last a couple years. I flipped my old Expy in the snow and need a truck asap but do not want to jump into something because of haste and $ if it will not last. Just poking around to see if anyone did this at such high mileage and was it a success?

Flushing the trans at high mileage isn't necessarily a problem, but it can be if the system was in trouble to begin with. Likewise, the flush may fix the TC issue or it may not. You won't know the answer to either until you drive it for a bit. As above, consider lowering your initial offer based on the potential cost of having to replace the TQ.

I tried this dude is already bent cause he ASSUMED the problem was a miss and spent $$ on plugs and coils, then realized it was NOT that and did the flush. LOL I tried he is stuck on his HIGH ass price. meanwhile at local auction I found a clean machine 09 w 100k. I will be bidding on that, light front end hit.

I’d drain and fill since you’ll change the fluid anyway and if new fluid doesn’t help it then try shutter fix. IMO at high miles a drain and fill is a lot safer than a flush.

Yes this was a drain and fill. My Jag XJR has the same ZF 6 speed (Virtually) and I did a full flush and fill at 130k and now have 145k HARD miles never shifted better. This truck also had some paint issues, and the drivers side carpet has a monster tear along where it meets the console, just seemed sketchy over all.

Yup, already found a deal almost too good to be true. I'll post when the deal is done.

Flushing has a bad rap nowadays. There is a valve that won't let it circulate unless it's very hot plus it takes a lot more fluid. I just dropped the pan, got it level and re-filled mine. I used 4 portable ramps to get it level. The filter had a recent date on it and it was squeaky clean inside so I just left it in. Some filters are "lifetime" like on my old Excursion.

I had a BMW 735i the tranny lasted me 295,***. I did the drain and fill every 50k.

My 1st gen I have power flushed every 30k-50k, I have 220,*** and it shifts smooth as silk.

Go figure.

No idea. Maybe never. Just bought it, no service records. Everyone I've asked told me don't flush it because it can cause more problems than it solves.

I've often heard that, but don't know of any real cases.
FWIW, in the auto maintenance classes I've taken, I was taught that if a problem appears after a fluid change, it's because the old fluid was hiding it, assuming the right fluid, filter, etc. if a fluid change reveals issues, it means you need at least a trans checkup, sooner rather than later.

Fluid change and flush are two different things. A fluid change without churning up buildup inside probably isn't going to cause issues. A flush could. This is for high mileage low maintenance vehicles though. If it's been done regularly through the life of the vehicle then it shouldn't have much in the way of buildup.

Real case here. My wife's Mazda was flushed at 220k and it blew out the seals. Obviously, that indicates the trans wasn't in great shape to begin with, but had we just done a drain/fill maybe we would have gotten another year or two out of the old girl.
