ok so I changed my fuel pump on my 2007 ford expedition EL. (fixed the original problem) But now my guage is around 1/4 off (either that or my tank isn't filing). I will have to take the tank down anyway.. didn't know where I could find the ohm ranges that the sender would be sending.

Well since your dropping tank anyway, pull pump, leave wires connected, and manually move float on sending unit/pump. Have a assistant tell you what fuel readings are inside vehicle. If not at full or empty at either extreme, you got a bad sending unit. If you suspect your not topping off, get a thin long stick, shove it into tank when full at pump. Read it old school way! Hardware stores or hobby shops have thinner diameter sticks to buy cheap!

Did you disconnect the battery before the job, and if not, have you disconnected it since? Just a few minutes should do.
You should see 13-17 ohms empty and 158-162 oms full.

There are some intelligence timers built in, so a sending unit reporting empty one second then completely full 1 second later shouldn't be expected to be shown at the gauge. I believe its about a minute for gauge to fully display. 55 seconds rings a bell. So if you do use an assistant, slowly raise the float from E to F.

No magic solutions from me, but I'm curious about the cause and cure. I assume you dropped the tank when you replaced the pump. Using an OEM pump? I don't recall the setup in my '07 Expedition when the pump was replaced but in my other car the pump is a separate part and goes in the OEM mounting which contains the fuel level sensor inside the tank. Is that bent or binding? Is it possible to mount the pump at a different rotational angle than stock?

One of my Fords had a note that refueling with the engine running would produce inaccurate fuel gauge information.
