I just bought a 2008 expy el limited with the standard towing package ( im assuming that cause all i have is the 4 pin pigtails).

i have read other posts and have looked under my expy several times. what i want to do is put a 7 blade connector for my Rv. I followed the wires as far as the front doors. the only wires coming from the front of vehicle is blue (elec brakes), a ********* wire that bolts to the chassis near the spare tire, the standard yellow brown and green wires. no other wires or plugs.

How would i do this? im stumped

and also my camper weighs about 4500 lbs. is my vehicle able to tow this well. i have the Equalizer load distribution and sway control hitch. My old 2003 tahoe pulled it with no problem.

I believe you will need to chop the 4 way plug off

I suggest running a whole new harness for the 7 pin connector.

You just need to run 2 wires -the trailer brakes and power to the trailer.

Take the wires from the existing flat four connector and runa wire to the back up lights to complete the 7 pin connector.

I would highly advise an aftermarket transmission cooler. Pretty easy to add and not that expensive.

What I did was order a 7 pin plug from a dealership. There's two parts. One is the plug that is wired to the truck. And then another piece that's plugged into that. I cut off the flat plug in the back and wired in the 7 pin connector in place. I think the plug is actually from a Flex. But I imagine they're all the same. The only thing I haven't wired up is the 12vdc constant for the trailer battery. I went to Pep Boys and found a connector with 7 and 5 pin plugs so I can pretty much hook up whatever I wanted. My buddy welded the bracket to my hitch for me.

As for the tranny cooler, look behind the grill. You probably already have it. I've looked at other EL's with the HD tow package and they have the same cooler. My guess is the EL's came with the upgraded cooling system because of the size. So all you need to do is add the 7 pin connector.

I pull my boat which weighs a little more with no issues. I'm hoping it does even better with the tuner I ordered today.
