So I my brother-in-law noticed that I have a random hole in the roof of my expy.

I was thinking that it was for an antenna but I have no radio issues and all but i have never really looked at the roof. . . .

So. . . . Did I lose my radio antenna or is it something else?

I fished my fingers in there looking for any cable and there is nothing.

Was your SUV possibly a police or park vehicle? Are you the original owner? Bullets make a pretty defined type hole, who knows. Easiest bet, go by your local Ace hardware and get a rubber plug and call it a day.

May be a falling bullet....

Perfectly round and frickin huge? From what, an AA gun?

Nah.

Not the first owner, I take it? Probably a removed mod, maybe lights maybe cop lights... Any other signs of being used as some kinda government vehicle?

That's exactly how our S.O. vehicles looked when we pulled the antennas for our two-way radios off for the upgrade but we plugged the hole with a body plug. Our old antennas took a 3/4in plug and that seemed to be a universal size for the two-way's and Lo-Jack's.

Not the original owners, I dont think it was a government vehicle but it has an aftermarket trailer controller and some holes in the dash to suggest it was a fleet vehicle of some kind.

I didn't know if maybe we had antennas mounted there or something and the car wash ripped it out or something, lol...

I will run to Ace and get a rubber plug for it.

Something was obviously mounted there previously due to the ring around the hole. Probably some type of antenna with it being the only hole. Maybe a fleet gps. Go with the moose's advise.

Antenna or light bar was mounted up there.
Hopefully there has been a plug in there and it just recently came out.

The big question is how long has water been getting in and where has it gone.

lol, WAY too long! I have had it for a year and never noticed it. . . The head liner still looks good inside and there were never any leaks inside, so I'm not sure how much water has gotten in there. . .

We have been through some major monsoons and I like the carwash, so ya. . . Hopefully we don't get after effects later down the road.

or there has been a plug in there most of the time and a recent carwash sent it flying. Get yourself a plug and silicone ASAP

Luckily, it looks to be at the highest part of the roof, meaning any water entering would have to be from a direct hit down the hole.

Duct tape. No one but you will know its there.....

I prefer the HVAC aluminum tape, it lasts much longer than duct tape! I had to do that to my old dodge that had a shell on it, the 3rd light hit the shell so I had to remove it. The aluminum tape lasted 5 years and was still holding strong when I sold it.

Ya, thankfully.

You need to get a "NMO" plug

I had to google that one, PERFECT!!! Thank you for that! A little RTV and that plug and I should be all set!

My 2004 truck has an antenna farm growing from it.

Any ham radio store or business that installs two way radios would have them
