The Ford dealership recently replaced the computer and torque converter in my transmission. Prior to the repair work I could press the two/haul button at highway speeds and the transmission would drop to a lower gear and increase rpm's...it doesn't do that now. According to the dealership the transmission is working correctly.

Shouldn't the transmission drop gear and increase rpm's when the tow/haul button is pressed at highway speeds?

At some point in time Ford changed to a tow haul from a OD lock out. My 07 had the OD lockout (on the side of the shifter) which sucked as I lost my two top gears pulling heavy but didn't gain added line pressure and revised shift points or converter strategy. My '13 has a "tow haul" button (exact same place as my 07) just relabeled. This does NOT lock out any gears it simply adjusts converter and shift points or strategy. It also seems to increase my grade braking as much as one can get from a gasser. My guess is that they loaded your 09 with the latest converter and TCM software which has taken you from OD lockout to a real tow haul mode. Personally I would rather have this tow haul mode as it works much better than my old OD lockout set up.

I suppose that's what ford did. Thanks for the comment. On another note, my fuel mileage dropped from 18-20 highway to 13-15 without a load or trailer. How does this compare to your ride?

I get about 8 to 9 around town on E85 and 10-12 on premium.
