Hi all,
First post here - found the forums last Friday and enjoyed browsing through the posts.

I'm a proud owner of a 2004 XLT Sport w/HD tow package. This is mainly a kid taxi during the week, but weekends are spent towing SOMETHING around - usually through the mountains of AZ. We have 115k miles on it already, and I expect to hit 150k by next summer. The transmission is beginning to show signs of wear (I suspect torque converter failure is imminent).

I've read rumors of a diesel motor (4.4L V8) in the 2010 Expedition EL at other websites/message boards, but I haven't heard mention of it here. Does anyone have any insight into the plans for 2010? I'd write the check to reserve one tomorrow if indeed the rumors I've read were true. I'm interested to hear what this board's take on this is.

From what I've read I'm 90% sure that the 2010 will have the diesel engine as an option. I have been hearing about this since back in 2006. I wish they still had the 3 seats up front... because of the center console in the new ones I will probably never buy a new one.

Doesn't look like diesel engine made it for 2010... maybe they'll have it for 2011?
2010 Specs: http://www.fordvehicles.com/suvs/expedition/specifications/engine/

yeah, I saw that it was missing from the catalog I got in the mail last week. There's also no mention of the diesel in the F-150. By all accounts that I've found on the web, the diesel will first land in an F-150, maybe in the second half of the 2010 model year.

I hope it hasn't been dropped by Ford. After hauling the TT through the AZ north country this past month, I sure could use that extra torque!

I hope it wasn't dropped by Ford... a few years ago there were plans to fit the expedition with a 6.2L V8 in 2010, but after the high gas prices that idea got dropped. Ford definitely needs to come out with an optional high powered engine for the Expedition.
