The other day, the metal portion of one of the key / FOBs for our 2011 broke away from the plastic portion when turning it in the ignition. I glued it back together and both the key and FOB are functional but will certainly break again. You can see the crack in the plastic body on the right side of the original key on the left side.
Sooo, I purchased an aftermarket key / fob unit which looks to be correct. I have the instructions to program a new FOB from the owners manual and now need to get the physical key cut.
Do I need to go to a special locksmith to handle this, or do I just get the key physically cut to match one of the existing keys and then proceed with the self programming instructions provided in the owners manual?
