2013 Expedition XLT

I am looking at a 2013 Expedition XLT from afar. Can anyone tell me what the rear compartment is like? Are third row seats integrated into the floor? I see a floor panel at rear with a latch. Is that use-able storage? A photo of it opened would be nice.

If I understand the question yes the 3rd row in integrated into the floor. When I bought my 2007 I cleaned the area, used the electric switch to fold down the 3rd row, covered the area with a nice cargo liner and my 3rd row seating hasn't been seen again. There is a small storage area at the very rear under the floor.

I am trying to find a picture of that area. I wonder how deep and wide it is in order to install a radio unit which is fairly large. About 18 inches deep, 12 inches wide and 3 inches high. There will be smaller "boxes" and wiring as well. If I can install a second radio of about that size in future would be desirable.

just a little recess to hold the factory Jack. Most of the space is flat. Not much room at all.

Wow, that is not very generous. Our 2007 Hyundai SanteFe has a spot like that for the tools. But further forward, another 3 x 4 foot compartment that is huge and deep.

On my 2014 EL LTD, I have a larger compartment further forward, along with the other. I can fit jumper cables, tow straps and misc junk that I never use...

The long wheelbase (AKA "Lane Bryant") models have a larger under floor storage area. Maybe two.

They're not like a Chrysler Stow-n-Go where the seats recess into the floor. The second and third row seats fold flat and even with each other, but they're elevated from the floor. Here's a picture of my 2015 with the third row folded and you can see about where it's level with the rear hatch.

I've only owned it for a month, but so far have been very happy with the rear compartment. It'll fit 4' wide sheets of plywood and drywall flat, granted the hatch won't close if it's 8' long, but that's easily tied down to a receiver hitch. The second row seat mounts on the floor have a bar on the left and right sides that a ratchet strap can hook onto.

Your hatch won't close??? I can fit 4 x 8 plywood in my 2014 EL LTD with no trouble, and close the hatch. Maybe your front seats are all the way back?
