get an occasional shudder of engine when stopped with foot on brake. Seems like rpm dropping but don’t really catch it on dash. Runs great otherwise. 3.5L twin turbo

My wife’s 16 limited does that, very rarely though like once a month for about 3 seconds lol. My 16 platinum with a 93 performance tune will do that on super cold mornings for about a minute then even out once it’s warmed up. Doesn’t bother me really since no CELs are present

That's funny I just noticed this on my 17 yesterday when stopped at a light. No change in rpm that I could tell by the display runs fine otherwise. I've got 44k miles, and new plugs at 33k. I guess if it goes boom, that's what the warranty is for.

i cant say for sure, but the ecoboost when it it was first put in the f150, back in 2013. would shut off cylinders based on load at idle. in gear or not.
i am pretty sure the expy does the same thing as part of the ecm programing, as my 16 does it every now and again as well.

I can feel something with mine as well, 2017 EL Limited. I did find that if I pull two window switches at the same time (like both front to close them when they are already closed) it will do the same thing. Just a slight vibration that I can feel in the brake pedal for a second or two. Nothing on the instrument cluster indicates drop in RPM.

Talked to a ford technician, they said a lot of the f150s and expeditions do this. They haven’t had anyone come that they’ve needed to do work on so..

I've had several autos that have done this. I eventually chalked it up to the PCM re-tuning the engine due to some environmental change (OAT, coolant temp, humidity, etc...). Sometimes it will be A/C compressor kicking on.

Glad to hear. Our 16 EL does it as well. You are all right, more annoying than anything, but glad its nothing to worry about!

Check your spark plugs and gap. Could be too wide causing misfires

If they were that wide causing misfires we’d be getting CELs. Have mine changed and gapped 0.028” sp542s and it still does it. Not plug related

Not true, you have to get over a certain amount of misfires in a certain time frame for it to throw a cel.

46 out of 200 cycles are misfires for low rpm;
12 misfires every 1000 times the engine goes trough its stroke cycle ...
we’ve been having this phenomenon occur for several months. I highly doubt this specific issue is plug related since I have 2 different expeditions with two different plugs gapped at two different widths with two different tunes. If you have 46 cycles that misfire out of 200, you’ve probably got bigger issues to worry about than this random shuddering when you pull up on the window switch

New plugs at 33 K ????, WHY, did the Stealer talk you into that, we still have our 07 Expy EB we bought new with the 5.4 that is rolling up on 120,000 miles with the original PITA 2 piece plug's and it still start's at the click of the key and is getting 19 MPG up here in the North Woods of Wisconsin where it get's COLD, Got down to minus -35 below this winter,out side of brakes all around and strut's on the back all I have done to this vehicle is change the motor oil every 5000K using MC 5/20 and it never goes down, I also flush the trans every 30K , best dam trouble vehicle we have ever owned .

Ecoboost (and any boosted motor) is hard on spark plugs, I did them myself shortly after buying the vehicle as I do on all my newly purchased used cars. I'm handy in the garage and like to have a baseline for maintence items.

I have got the same thing in my 16.
New plugs, cleaned the TB and it is still there.
