That piece from Ford has the Electronics included in it. It is NOT cheap. Mine had to be replaced on the 2015, because of shipping and bubbling. Dealer said it was a pain.

I got one on EBay for $100. I added it to my 07 to spice up the rear a little

Does anyone know what's under that trim if I were to delete it? I know my backup camera and license plate lights are back there but anything else? Are there holes in the hatch behind that trim? I'm just curious what it looks like if deleted. I have always debaged and trim deleted my trucks in the past for a smooth look.

@gixer2000 will know. He put one on his truck. I think he said that he had to drill some holes.

Boo. Holes are bad. Ok. If I ever do this I'll have to wait until the hatch needs a repaint and I'll have them fill the holes and repaint. Then I'll have to fab up camera and license plate light mounts. I'm kind of a body cladding minimalist. I've found it's hard to clean and buff around, it tends to hold water and either cause streaking water stains underneath as water dribbles out and/or retain water and provide a rust foothold or hide rust until its perforated the sheet metal. But holes are unsightly so I guess the trim remains.

I have a 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4, purchased new, with the horizontal trim piece on the rear hatch.

I have always disliked the trim and felt it was flimsy and cheap-looking. The release button on the underside for the hatch glass is not marked.

I'm surprised that Ford designed such a cheap-looking part for the 2015-2017 Expedition models.
