No sticker here either on either my 15 or 17... dealers most likely remove it for aesthetic purposes.

I’m going to paint it completely

How would you feel about reporting back with the results of your project? Looks like we both have the Black with the appearance package — I also want to black-out that chrome trim. I was thinking of doing a vinyl wrap over it if I can’t find a used one to paint.

I used Rustoleum Peel Coat in Graphite to paint mine. It's not as dark as the factory magnetic-painted strip, but the difference isn't as noticeable in person as in pictures.
Took less than half a day to get this and my grille off the truck, prepped and painted, and put back on. I chose this specifically because it sticks to chrome without any special prep work required. Downside is you aren't supposed to leave it on for more than 3 months.

They don't actually say what happens, but I am guessing it loses its ability to be peeled off easily. This was an easy way to see how it looked without doing a permanent job. When I hit the 3-month mark I'm going to peel it off and then redo it differently.

Okay, I had never heard of that before. It seems like when you paint something you want it to stay painted. :)

Andy, it does. I did this back in April and so far it has held up well. It was the first time I've ever used it on a vehicle. Reading what some guys have done with it on wheels and even whole vehicles gave me the confidence that it can be quite durable for the long term. I think the key to that is, like most paint, proper prep work, a clean surface, and with PlastiDip, around five to six coats.

We'll see how long it lasts!

I don't slam it. I used to do that, but now I just close it by hand and press the handle on the glass under the wiper arm until it clicks. It nice and easy on my nerves and the glass. :D

Eh??? It has controls back there???

I just use the remote on the keys.

That looks nice. Does plasticdip peel off as well?

Plastidip is great but like stated above you need to prep correctly and if you don't do enough coats it'll be very tough to peel in the future. If enough coats are applied it typically peels in 1 piece if not then you stuck pulling little pieces at a time.

Looks awesome Moss! I assume you access the screws from the inside? Any tips?

I didn't remove anything, Vinnie. Just careful masking with blue painters tape and paint masking paper from Home Depot. The way this trim is, there are very natural masking lines which makes it fairly simple. On the bottom, especially, there is a very small gap that allows you to insert the masking paper right into it. Makes for a real easy and truly perfect mask. I also did the chrome exhaust tip while I was at it. The whole process took me about five hours from start to finish. Most of that was the masking. When the temperature and humidity is right, putting on all the coats only takes about an hour.
