Howdy. I’m considering a 2020 Navi/Expy and curious if anyone knows what changes are in store for the next model year?

Is there any chance of a different (cough V8 cough) powerplant in either?

Thanks!

Edit: found a post with the 2020 changes. Sigh. Still no V8 option it seems. Thanks

Don't be scared of the V6 twin turbo. I was saying the thing before we bought ours. The V6 is faster than the 5.0, and can tow quite a bit. You just need to go text drive one and check it out if you haven't yet.

Yeah, not scared just prefer big V8s. There’s just no substitute IMO. If only for the sound alone lol

A 3.5l V6 at 15psi boost has the displacement equivalent to a 7.0l V12. Well, at least 7 liter part.

Look at GM, the 6.2L V8 has 420 horsepower and is fuel efficient at 23 MPG highway. GM has the better V8 in the half ton class right now if you compare the 5.0 to the 6.2. You’ve got 30 extra horsepower and 60 lb ft extra in a more compact package being a cam in block engine.

Not in all hwy conditions and in town its not fuel efficient at all. Idk how well the 5.0 performs on real world conditions as its never been offered in the expy and the engines perform and are calibrated diff than the pickups.

Yeah, I get it...but at the end of the day it’s not a 7L v12...
Yeah I know, one of my best friends tried to impress that on me by having me stand by the tail pipe while he revved the engine asking me what it sounded like. It didn't work. I told him it sounded like his Infinity M37. He was so embarrassed he went out and traded the Infinity for a BMW, with a twin turbo V8 of course. And just for the record, the Expedition is the wife's. Both my truck and car have V8's. Oh, and on the question of the best oil and filter----

I get 22-25 hwy (fully loaded down plus 4 passengers doing around 75-90) and around 16 city in my 6.2.

I have a very heavy foot :)

I don't miss the V8 at all, but I do wish the V6 muffler was quieter so I heard nothing instead of this V6 lame humm.

The powers better than their V8's anyway.

I don’t think it sounds lame but I wouldn’t mind a quiet as possible ride TBH. Gone are the days of flow master exhaust for me.... I guess getting older did that, idk.

Exactly. I know if I had bought a Denali with a 6.2L, I'd have a Corsa on it and it would be roaring! lol. My wife wouldn't be real thrilled!
I guess I just don't like my Expeditions sound, because it sounds like a 1985 Chrysler LeBaron! lol

Can you actually buy a muffler that would make this thing quieter? The more restrictive air flow might reduce power thought...

The noise you hear is the pumped in noise from the speakers. If you have forscan, you can turn it off and make the ambiance a bit quieter.
