2022 Expedition – A/C Compressor Clutch Remains Engaged with Ignition OFF (P2CFE)

2022 Expedition – A/C Compressor Clutch Remains Engaged with Ignition OFF (P2CFE)​

Looking for some diagnostic advice on a strange A/C issue.

Vehicle​

  • 2022 Ford Expedition
  • 3.5L EcoBoost
  • 4WD

Problem​

After replacing the A/C compressor with a new Aisin unit, the compressor clutch started remaining engaged even with the ignition OFF.

The clutch stays energized after the vehicle is shut down and continues to draw power. The only way to de-energize it is to disconnect the battery or unplug a specific connector near the BJB in the engine compartment.

DTC​

BCMC stores:

P2CFE:00-0A

A/C Clutch Control Circuit High

Diagnostics Performed​

  • Replaced A/C compressor (Aisin)
  • Inspected wiring
  • Replaced BJB (Battery Junction Box) with a brand new unit
  • Issue remained exactly the same after BJB replacement
  • Verified that the A/C clutch relay is integrated into the BJB on this vehicle
  • Unplugged BCM/BCMC related connectors during testing
  • No change in symptom

Important Finding​

There is a connector located near the BJB in the engine compartment.

When this connector is unplugged:

  • The A/C compressor clutch immediately de-energizes
  • The clutch no longer remains engaged
This seems to indicate that the power/control path is passing through that connector or harness.

Questions​

  1. Has anyone seen a BCMC-related failure cause DTC P2CFE and keep the A/C clutch engaged with the ignition OFF?
  2. Has anyone encountered a short-to-power condition in this circuit on a 2022 Expedition?
  3. Is there a known SSM, TSB, or wiring issue related to P2CFE?
  4. Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the A/C clutch control circuit on a 2022 Expedition?
The most confusing part is that the problem started the day after the compressor replacement, yet replacing the BJB did not change anything.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
