I am looking at a 2022 XLT with 43K in miles dealer is asking $43,800 and a 2021 XLT with 28K in miles and they are asking $43,495.

2021 is Antimatter Blue has HD Tow with ELSD and 4WD L

2022 has 4wd A and 4WD H no low no ELSD and no Tow, but newer and better 12 inch screen.

What are thoughts and recommendations?

If you are not going to tow or pull it behind a motorhome and 4 low is not a worry, the 22 is newer, but has more miles. It really depends on how you are going to use it.

I like the added cooling the HD tow package gives and have used L on beach, but don't get to do that very often any more and wonder if 4WD high with Terrain management would be good enough. Funny thing is household is also split on last option 22 has 2nd row bench 21 has captains chairs.

IF you have kids (4-16 yo), then you will literally want to kill yourself if you get a bench....been there, done that, NEVER, EVER AGAIN !

Even without kids (mine are out of the house now, thankfully) and I don't haul other people around except for the wifey, but even so, I STILL prefer the captains chairs, and really like having that storage spot between them for easy-reach travel essentials :D

I am all for the captain chairs and the HD trailer tow. Better yet if it has the ELSD, because that is one of THE best options on the Expedition. My GSD loves that spot in the middle.

Thanks, going tomorrow to TD and buy if all is well. I agree I would be kicking myself in a few weeks.

We think the empty space in between can be more useful too, I have two dogs a Ridgeback who is 100+lbs and a mutt who slept in the empty space of a Tahoe we rented when we went to GA to adopt her and drive back.

I like bench seat better. More people can travel if needed

Nah… that’s one too many… lol
I need room for 6 and my GSD. Anyone else is SOL in my Expy. They wouldn’t wanna get in anyway with my dog sitting in the middle. :-D

I’ve had 4L in every vehicle I’ve owned, never used it, not even once. And I’ve been stuck a few times, 4H works just fine.

The 22 has the refreshed front end and IMO, looks nicer.

My '011 has 4L, 4H, 4A, 2A, and in ~4 years of owning it, I've only switched into 4L once, when I was out in the backwoods after a bad snow/ice storm and had to get to a spot that most folks would not have wanted to go (long story), but otherwise, nottaproblemo leaving in normal 2A all the time.....

Get the 22 and remove the middle seat.

I'm with you. I purposely took the captain chairs out of my search criteria for a used Expedition for the simple fact I need all the room from the rear of the front seats to the rear door for my crew. Canvasback liner with a block that keeps them getting in between the front seats is on the way.
