I was thinking about the angles of the drive shafts and ball joints. The top from the rear was pretty good in that, is the front one in a similar angle? Doesn't seem like it's too excessive.. :)

Yeah it's honestly not too bad at all the front and rear almost the same as it has independent suspension all around... if your worried you could check back in a few months with me and see how its been running? But so far so good! :favorites37:

what were you planning on doing about the undercoat?

I have surface rust all over my frame and front rad. support is rotting away, sanded what i could, blasted some matte paint and some quick steel putty just for some minor reinforcement.... I do not know if i want to spend the dough on some POR15 or if i want to just sand the hell out of it and do a cheaper rubberized undercoating like we do on the toyotas..

Yeah when it comes to rust for me... I'd spend the extra and not do a Toyota job on it lol but I plan on have Auto Rust Technicians have their way with it as they quoted me $950 for the whole rust clean-up and they say their stuff is better than por15 and they have pretty great reviews so I might go ahead with that in October ish but let me know what you do! Also maybe we could hit the trails sometime in RI ;) haha not that there are a lot of trails but you know lol

Not sure if you have Tectyl in the US, but in Norway we usually use that to protect our cars from rust, and we have snowy roads which has been salted to control the ice by the government which really eats up any car that is not protected by that stuff! :)

Check it out here: Tectyl Products - Home

Great thread dude! I must say that I had needed to exercise some will power to not spend more money on my truck but you're making me tempted to lol [emoji1] Your truck looks good and proper, and I am 110% sure it will look mean with those 35s and new wheels on it. Congrats on being able to join the Lifted Expy Club!

I'm not so sure about cheap ;) but it is definitely something I need to do, considering my plans with the truck. Depending on your results, I may chose to run 35s or go with 33/34s instead. When I lift it, it will give me a good excuse to get some good quality cvs and joints to refresh the front end.

yeah I know ATR, i've sent people there many times, but im a DIY guy. The rubberized undercoat isn't like hack job bad if you do it correctly, we only use it to patch areas that were already sprayed with the toyota frame spray. It's like a bedliner type of rubber in rattle cans lol the POR will just be more powerful but a lot more expensive. But as for rust techs they do a great job; they will get it on the lift and take everything apart which is the more difficult part on an SUV @ home in the garage.

But the truck is looking good, we should set up an "expedition expedition" in RI or NE somewhere later this summer!

How much did you pay to have the lift installed if you don't mind me asking?

-_- it's ok I knew someone would ask lol but I paid a long-time trusted shop of mine $200 for the install because I simply did not have the tools to do it myself or the time really. With a lift it would be much easier than jacking up every wheel to install it myself so I decided to just go ahead and pay.

Went to Town Fair Tire and had some cooper 35s test fitting on OEM wheels and they fit fine... So the 35" Toyos are a go for the middle of July [emoji48] I can't wait!

Did you persuade them to let you take a quick test drive, or at least turning the wheels lock to lock a few times? If 35s will fit well without rubbing that is awesome!

Nah I didn't even have a chance to snap a pic lol but yeah I at least know that the will clear with the wheels straight but I think I may need more negative offset than the method race wheels but idk I might be good with 0 and 4.75 backspacing we'll have to see

'Bout time you got done! How did the road trip go? Any issues? We're leaving for Fla on July 17th so I'm a little concerned about not having much miles on the lift before I go.

All the way up 210 miles to NH went excellent and I don't exactly how many weeks it's been lifted hut so far so good! Thing rides great and before I had the lift on I had sort of bouncy soft suspension so the leveling kit somewhat tightened it up and made it ride a little tougher. But yeah everything with the lift is great just still saving for my tires :( takes forever to save $2k for 35s lol
