3.73 gears.........

Morning people.....
I was looking over the original window sticker on my Expy and noticed the first owner got the (if im not mistaken) 3.73 gears option for $595. What is the purpose for this option. is it lower gearing for towing or something?

3.73 gears are used for more low end power, so yes towing will be more streamlined and your 0-60 time will be better than a similar Expedition with say 3.31 ratio. I'm not entirely sure how many gear ratios were offered in these though.

I read my original window sticker and it says it has 373 limited slip rear as well.

Yeah .. the 3.73 is ok for flatlanders - kinda sucks in the mountains!

Most people out here get 4.11 or so if they have the option.

i wish i had 3.73, im stuck right now with 3.55 but hopefully by this time next year i will have some 4.88 stuffed in there with some 40" tires.....ahhhh, a boy can dream! haha
