What are the advantages/disadvantages for each? Lets hear it.

5.4 - A fair increase in hp but significantly more torque down low which is very beneficial in getting the fairly heavy mass moving. This increases towing capacity as well.

4.6 - Small weight advantage (lighter). Potentially improved mpg due to less displacement. This somewhat depends on driving style. The 5.4 would take less throttle input to accelerate.

It depends on your age - if your over 50, generally your not in a hurry any more so the 4.6 is more than enough. Speaking from experience...
Plus I'm on the diesel side of life, now gobs of torque are more impressive.

Not sure what your experience is, but I'd have to disagree that age has anything to do with power / torque requirements. Just because you are over 50 doesn't mean you don't tow anything. In fact, I could make an argument the other way.

As for the 4.6 vs 5.4.......for me it's the same thing as RAM in a PC.....get as much as you can afford to have.
