Thx for sharing that, it would be great if you could write up what tools you used and any particular GOTCHAS for your vehicle.

Also, that piece of missing plug, you got that out right?

I did short write off , and closed window by accident:greenchainsaw:
Now short version :
I start with tools in pics #3 , later .....I have 100 tools around !!

Main tools :3/8 swivel ford spark plug socket , wiggle extensions , strong needle players , air compressor to blow garbage out.

Started with warm engine: 3 broke on driver side, later 1 broke on pass. side engine was cooler at this time. When sparks turns out with easy ... means is broken! When make lot off noise , and turns off hard , WILL come out in one peace !!

I dump sea foam in 2 last fuel tanks, did not use any penetrating oil or wd 40.

Lisle tool works great , but has his live limit , maybe for one more job (4 sparks or less) the left hand thread part wears off quick.

When U push broken ceramic part in , and loud "click" happen... STOP metal electrode part broke open! NO need to push more !

Good luck !!

One more : best ratchets are with release push button on top .. craftsman, husky , I had snap-on , and this was pain to disassembly in tight space !!

Did you lose part of an electrode in the cylinder? One of those looks like it is missing a big chunk of electrode?

Yeah that was my concern because it will beat the hell out of the new plugs and can mark the cylinder wall, mess with the valve seats AND bits can hop to other cylinders!

wow, that looks like a nightmare. what year and engine is that on ?

The 3v motors utilize these "extended" electrode spark plugs. Thats why you so many issues with breaking the spark plugs on these motors. The 2v motors do not have this issue. We get the low thread count heads and ejecting plug issue instead. What a deal!! :(

interesting, i had a '97,'99, and now an '01. i have heard of this ejecting plug problem, but i never encountered it, and none of the expy owners in my area have seen it. so is it the 3v motors only that have the problem ? thanks for the info by the way. also i see your listed as a technical advisor, i have a question i was thinking about bouncing off you before i post a new topic here as i am concerned about starting an oil vs. additives riot.

Yes the 3v has the problem, it's well documented here and there is a wiki page about it.
