Firstly, I apologize if I created a thread in the wrong place.

I have a 1997 Ford Expedition 4X4 XLT (5.4L)

When I engage 4wd, everything seems to work until I give it gas.. I was stuck in snow and lightly pushed the gas. I know it works because I was able to get out.

Here's the issue: When engaged, there's a VERY loud clunking or bouncing or maybe both when I depress the accelerator. I mean BAD. It doesn't matter how much I seem to push the gas, it hits hard. After I take the 4wd out, it takes a second and stops making the noise. The noise is consistent. Doesn't matter if I'm going backwards, forwards, and turning.

This issue was sudden. No warning, nothing. Everything on my front end is new except the differential. Where and how should I start to find the culprit of the issue? I really appreciate any feedback. If there's any help, and we solve this issue, I hope we can help the next person in line.

Thank you,

Michael ..

Hey bud,

Thanks... I followed all my vacuum lines before I went through this. I have the single actuator on the axle. I replaced it.

Still no solution.

Must have been one of those damned made in Mexico chains Trump hates. Just funning. But here goes back to what we say on the forum, don't cheat and buy the bargain parts, here's an example of what can happen. Theirs always a reason why one part is cheaper, they usually fail, or don't work at all.
