I know 4wd problems have been discussed to death, but I had a hard time finding info on those exact symptoms. There were no lights on the dash when I used the selector switch, I couldn't hear the solenoids, I checked all relevant fuses (interior and engine bay), and they were all good, and there were no problems with any other electrical systems (wipers, lights etc.).
After scouring the web and forums (even asking expo group members on Facebook) I was all set to order a GEM thinking that must be the problem.
I had found one post about something needing to be reset by disconnecting the battery. I figured before shelling out any money I'd at least give it a shot, and it worked. All I did was disconnect the negative terminal for about 20 minutes, and when I reconnected it the 4wd system was working perfectly. it's been about 2 months and I haven't had any more trouble from it.
Sorry again if it's beating a dead horse, but if you have those symptoms, before you spend any money on anything just give it a shot.
