Anyone have a common solution/diagnostic to correct a non-functioning 4wd in the 1998 expedition?

That's true.

Are any of the 4x4 dash lights coming on?
Do you hear any clicking under the dash?

On a similar note:

Mine seems to be acting up, but it shifts in and out of four wheel drive and low range ok, it just doesn't seem to be sending any power to the front wheels. I noticed it during the last huge snowfall, neither of the fronts spun in the snow. The problem is actually worse in 4x4 and in low range, A4WD will sometimes send some power up front.

Hi, thanks for the info - we do hear a click in the dash, and the awd light comes on intermittantly, but no 4Hi, or 4Lo lamps
