Hello Expedition Guru's...

I have an 03 Eddie Bauer 4X4 5.4L. When I switch the 4x4 dial to 4H the light on the dashboard does not activate. I replaced the IWE solenoid and the transfer case motor and still nothing. I check vacuum at the hubs and that is good and there is no vacuum when I switch the dial to 4H which tells me the hubs are working just fine. I also check all the fuses in the main fuse box - all good.

Could this be a 4x4 Transfer Case Control Module issue? I hear it click when I turn the dial but again no lights on the dashboard and it does not feel like 4x4 is actually engaged. Are there other fuses or relays I can check before changing the TC control module? Anyone else have this no light on the dash and no 4X4 issue?

Thanks!

I should clarify a bit...it could be the actual IWE actuators as I have not tested whether the axle spins when I rotate the tire in 4wd.

I was gonna suggest that, even though I'm not sure how to do it - have heard of it!

Have you tested on say "wet grass" to see if you have 4WD working or you positive it's not?

What settings do you have on switch (switch could be bad too?)?
My 2003 has 2W AWD 4HI 4LO

My 2003 owners manual lists a fuse for that ..

Fixed! Here’s an update on my 4x4 issue. There was broken wire in the wiring harness going to the transfer case shift motor. The harness that connects directly to the shift motor so it’s on the underside of the vehicle and relatively easy access.
