Thw Ford Towing guide says I can tow up to 6,000 with my 2020 XLT based on my axle code but I have the class 5 hitch which says I can tow 9000. Which is correct?

I have the Class V hitch and the integrated brake controller. Does this mean I have the heavy duty tow package?

That is a good question ... They all come with the hitch

Tow package includes 3.73 gears, upgraded radiator, brake controller, trailer backup assist knob.

If you are missing any of those you don't have it.

All 2024 Expeditions came with a "Trailer Tow Prep Pack" that included a Class IV hitch receiver and a trailer wiring connector with 4- and 7-pin connections.

Do you have the window sticker, if so, you should see a line like this under Optional Equipment:

If you don't see that on your window sticker, you don't have the package.

Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package includes the following on XLTs. Other trim lines may be slightly different:

This is a common question. Hitches are just hitches. The vehicle is the limiting factor in most cases. Even at 9000lbs the Heavy Tow version is pretty much a flat lander only hauler.
