Hello,
I have a 1997 Ford Expedition 5.4 Eddie Bauer with 170k miles. Just under 500 miles ago I had the power steering pump replaced due to a leak at the dealership in another state. Drove it home and around town on Monday and lost my power steering. I took it in last night to my local dealership and after they looked at it they said the pump is bad and now I will also need to replace the power steering cooler, flush the lines and possibly replace the gearbox due to the new pump coming apart and metal shavings are in the system now. The estimated the repair to be $830.00 without the gearbox.
The other dealer did not use a Ford OEM pump instead they used a NAPA part so it's not covered under any Ford warranty. Any though on how I can get this repaired without any costs to me. The NAPA part has a 1 year 12k mile warranty on it. Should the other dealership pay for the repair or should NAPA have to pay the repair bill?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
