My current system has been gutted.

It only has an OEM cassette double din
head unit and some cruddy door speakers.

So, I'm starting to put a system plan together.
I haven't built up a system in since the 80's.
I'm going to rely on the familiar names & manufacturers
(Sony, Alpine, Kenwood, Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, etc...).

Will be going with a Sony Xplod head unit (all I need is a clean
sounding deck that is iPod compatible with the basic options).
For the doors, I'm thinking about going with Infinity.
Amplifier, either Infinity or another good brand.

Bass...that's the question:
What options are there for the rear door speakers?
Crutchfield said that there are 8" speakers that go in the rear?

Goals:
To have a clean good sounding well balances system that's stealthy.

Outside of the removable face deck,
I don't want anybody to know what's there.
No multi-disc changer, no in-dash screen, nothing fancy.
Just a plug & play iPod to hold my library and a remote for my deck.

Budget:
Between $1500.-$2,000.

Open for all suggestions and definitely interested examples of similar set-ups.

Thanks for any info.

I just did my 2000 EB with Mach a couple of months ago. The front and rear speakers are 6x9. I would strongly advise getting an amplifier for your component speakers. I haven't got one yet, and when I turn up the head unit above 40, it doesn't sound as good. What size sub(s) were you planning on getting? I put two 15" in mine, with a pre-made box, and under-powered sub, component speakers, and head unit, for under $700 total.
