Whats up, just joined here and got couple questions. I read few pages and see some nice trucks on here. I am running 305/40/22 tires now with procomp 22x10 extreme alloy wheels with stock suspension. But now, Im wanting to add some mud terrains or nitto tires. I have only had lowered vehicles or cars til this 98 4x4 expedition, has coils in back also. Whats best way to get little more clearance? Leveling kit in front with spacers in back or body lift? I was told at local shop that its about $1500 for a freakin 3" body lift installed, is there sumthing special that has to be done?

definitely dont take it to that shop. find a 4wheel parts store or something like that. you can usually get it installed for about 500-600 and the kit only costs you about 200. but if you are just needing a couple inches, i would do torsion twist up front, that should get you about 2-2.5 inches (and its FREE) and put 3" spacers in the rear. those can be had for relatively cheap off ebay.

yeah dont take it there. 600 is a good price for a body lift. i got 2 inches out of my torsion bars and im going to get the 3" spacers eventually. haha its about $75 for the spacers. good price for a lift. a total of $75 for 2-3 of lift.

$1500 sounds like a lot to me too. Even up here in Canada ( Where everything is always more expensive ) I think I only paid $700 for labor. The kit was around $220. You will probably want gap guards too, so plan on another $80 after the body lift.

i was quoted $550 to install the BL. even tho i did it my self i was curious what a shop would charge...

you need to decide how much lift you want and then you see what you want to do
