Hey guys, been a while. Haven't had the internet for a bit, but it's back on now.

Anyways my air conditioner works decently except for the fact when you accelerate or go up a steep hill the air blows from the front to the defrosting vents.

Any suggestions...?

from what I have read when I was dealing with a broken blend door... yours is probably vacuum related.... I'll have to search some online but I believe it is something along the vac lines...

Yeah I did a bunch of googling & they all talked about the vacuum lines. It's so dang confusing. I don't understand any of it.

I'm not much help...lol... never dealt with A/C vac lines.... but does the temp stay the same going up hills/increase speed? or does just the direction of air flow change? and do you have manual temp controls or the EATC electronic ones?

me either, hah.. The temp stays the same, it just goes into the other vents. The temp controls are just turn knobs. From red to blue nothing fancy like choosing the temp by number.

bump

I was messing with my A/C yesterday & found out that when the engine is turned off all the air is directed through the defrost vents.

No matter what setting you put it on it always go threw the defrost vents.

Just when the engine is off; but when it's on all of the dials work EXCEPT when you press on the gas hard or go up a hill.

Hopefully with this new info somebody knows what's going on.

I appreciate it.

The EATC module is the A/C and heat control panel under the radio on trucks with automatic climate control. My Navi was doing the exact same thing. Any kind of load on the engine and it would default back to defrost. I took the EATC apart and replaced the o-rings like the marauder link desceibed, but the problem was acually a broken vacuum line between the battery and firewall. I spent an hour replacing o-rings, when it really took about 5 min to fix it.

The moral of the story. Take a few min and look at the vac lines around the battery first.

first off open your hood and look against the firewall to the far passenger side corner you will see a 't' vacuum fitting. pull it off and check it i have found out that like 95% of the time that is the problem. it is a check valve that goes bad best bet is dealer their cheap but autozone oreilly etc have one in help section but its for a gm and is a different size i tried it but didnt work. but my compressor went out so i stopped trying to fix it i will hopefully know even more soon i hope to get truck in shop soon but give that a try first before you waste to much time on something else

The tee/check valve is the piece with the blue end on it. Check all the lines going to it, especially the hard plastic one, they like to crack. The rubber ones like to get soft and spongy over time, too.
