A few leveling questions

1) since I have more than a 2" difference in my front end than I have in my rear can I fit 305/70/17 tires on my expy? That if I add a 2" coil spacer in the back..

2) I was looking into this strutmaster air conversion kit, can anyone tell me about it or recommend something else?

so what do you have now? air? then convert it first with this. crank your t bars and add a 2" spacer. itll level it, if its already lifted then just see if you can crank anymore and get a 3" spacer. then you can fit 305s no problem, but you can even fit 315s.

Would 305s fit with a 2" rear spacer? What about wheel spacers?

youll fit no problem. on stock rims!!! other wise you can get 8" wide with a 4.5" backspacing. any wider or different backspacing youll rub somewhere. and need to trim or get wheel spacers. so no need for wheel spacers and you can fit 305s. itll be about 33-34 depending on the tire. 315s are about 34-35. remember that 305 is the width and the next number is the percentage of the width on the sidewall and 3rd number is the rim. use this so you dont get confused. http://www.redrock4x4.com/tireconve...txtWidth=&stxtRim=&submitButtonName=Calculate

Okay thanks, I was going to add spacers only to give my expy a wider look. That wont put too much wear on my front and rear end will it? Im going to stick with my stock rims for now

it shouldnt. i mean anything will, but if your going to do spacers dont go off any big jumps! haha but also you might have some rubbing issues. you will if you do 315s, but with 305s you might have to trim the plastic pieces a little bit. not much.

hell... I'm running a 10" wide rim and a 1/4" spacer up front with 37s and no problems at all... and mudryder has bigger spacers and 38s with no problems

BACKSPACING!!!!!! thats where it comes down to for the rubbing.

I was looking at 1.25" 1.50" spacers for front and back. Is that a bad idea?

shouldn't be a problem... just make sure they are good spacers and you are going to need to re-torque them every so often... like check the torque with every oil change... also I would look for "hub-centric" spacers too if your gonna use 1" or bigger

Would it be a good idea to use some lock tight on the studs before I torque them? I should be able to fit 305s right? I just want to make sure and would that be a tight fit? I'm keeping stock size rims

wouldn't hurt to put the lock tight on the studs that hold the spacer on... but not on the studs that hold the rim on........ but biggest thing with bigger spacers is keep an eye on the torque... if you do you wont have any problems... just like when you get new lug nuts your supposed to retorque them too... but spacers I would take the extra few min to be safe.... just my .02

No worries I'll keep an eye on them. But would 305s be too much? This is with a 2" leveling kit in the back. How much space will I have left in my wheel wells between the tires and top of fender

I'm having trouble finding 1.25 or 1.50 spacers. What is the stud size on a 2000 expedition? What type of spacer am I looking for exactly I know hub centric but brand and measurement wise?

Well how big are your tires now? 30' tall?

Because in metric tires it is this:

Say your tire is P-305/60/R-17

P ......is tire type (P-passenger/T-temporary/C-commercial)
305... is section width of the tire (in millimeters)
60 ....is aspect ratio [(section height) divided by (section width)]
R ......is construction type (R-radial/B-bias belted/D-diagonal(bias))
17.... is rim daimeter (in inches)

Thats what all that means for metric ratings. Hope this helped.

so the 305s should fit stock... I had 285/75r16 which are a 32.8 on a 8" wide rim on a stock 97 f150 4x4...so that size "305/60/17" should fit stock or with a spacer... what rims are you planning on using? stock or aftermarket and how wide?

He also has 25" MM spacers.

At those prices though, maybe you should just buy a new set of wheels. I'm not sure you are going to find any other hubcentric spacers; they are very rare.
