Just bought a 2008 Expy Limited with 33000 miles on her. I have noticed though when coming to a stop when the truck is almost at a stop and it feels like the transmission is shifting down from third to second or second to first I feel a clunk. Like a bump. It is not shifting down smoothly. What could this be?? I am taking back to the dealer Monday for them to look into it but wanted to see if anyone here may have an idea.

Yeah that is one of the main tranny issues that people experience with 07-10. There is a TSB on it that usually a reflash of the computer fixes it.

So I just wanted to give an update. Picked up truck last night from dealership and my thud or clunking is gone. They did the computer flash and reprogram and thinks are much better. Knock on wood I hope it stays that way!!

I have this exact issue with my '05 Expedition. I just took it into the shop this morning. I will wait for the service rep to call me back but will mention the reflash of the computer.

Please update with what they say bandit. My 06 does it but not every time. I thought it was only in the six speeds that this fix worked, but if they tell you different-I will get mine done also. Thx, Mike.

Flash cost from dealer?

What was the dealer re flash tranny cost for the 07 , 6 speed?
The service dept in my local Ford dealer is ignorant of this common problem.
They act like re -flash is fiction. I brought tsb copy and they shrugged.
I'm going to another dealer that has a better service department. Stuck with dealers because trans.mechanics can't afford software cost for low volume.
I never had the bump back problem until I had to replace a dead battery.Software should prevent this from happening. This website is more reliable than dealership is.
~Thanks

When I bought my edge programer they gave me a copy of my stock file for free (you just tell them the serial number on the ECU), not sure how much the dealership charges but with the programmer you can do the reflash yourself and also upgrade your timing/shifting.

Bump down GONE on '07 6 speed

I disconnected the battery That cleared the tranny program.
I then drove in the mannor the service bulletion said to and the bump down stopped. It took several trips to get the new program to set. It is a learned system. Zero cost.:D
