Hi all,
My wife's 2010 Limited sags and bottoms out on the rear passenger side, while the driver rear side seems pumped up the the max.
The compressor checks out.
All the fuses and 70 amp relay under the hood check out.
When I apply power to the compressor manually, it pumps up the passenger rear.
I've already put in a new rear height sensor on the passenger side.
I've been told this Active Air Suspension Relay could be the culprit, so even though I hate to throw parts at a problem (and don't have budget for a super-expensive scanner to help me narrow it down), I took a chance and bought the relay pictured above.
I believed it was under the driver side of the dash upwards from the vicinity of the parking brake pedal, but I can't find it.
Is there a kind soul with the 2010 service/shop manual here who could snap a pic of the diagram/replacement instructions in their manual and post it here for me?
Or offer any thoughts on what the problem may be?
That would be so very appreciated.. Thanking any of you in advance for any help you can provide.
Greg

I'm suspecting, honestly, it's under the hood near the front of the engine compartment on passenger side, where the wires from the suspension air compressor run towards the radiator.
I looked and can't see anything; I may need to get under the vehicle or remove some stuff for more visibility.
Still hoping one of our forum savants can help me here!

A suggestion: Go to a Ford dealer part’s department with your VIN and the part number (if known). Explain your issue and ask the part’s employee to look up the part - which should provide an exploded view of it, and its location.

I would highly suspect it is very near the compressor. I found one link that says the relay is behind the passenger side headlight (which is easy to remove), but I couldn't determine if that person was referencing a second or third gen Expedition.

I agree it's near the air compressor; it only makes sense. Up until the 2006 model year, that's where it was.
I got under our 2010 Expedition today, and also pulled the plastic shield over the rad, but still could not locate it.
I removed the passenger headlight and looked again around the compressor.
Nothing.
I even called a Ford dealership and a very nice parts lady looked up the part, and was going to email me a diagram of the location of the active air suspension relay, except she couldn't find one or even describe verbally over the phone where it might be. Arghhhhh.
So, I'll ask again--
Do any of you kind forum members have a shop/service manual for the years 2007 to 2014 or so?
I would be forever grateful for a picture of where this part is.
Thanking you in advance, as this is my wife's vehicle, and as they say: Happy Wife = Happy Life ! :)

@Gregory Kennedy I found the following link that seems to tell me the relay is in the fuse box.

This link also suggests fuse box

Hope this helps and good luck!

This is from the 2009 Ford Factory Manual wiring diagram. The only relay appears to be the one in the box under the hood.

Thank you all for your kind help and advice; SO much appreciated.
I called my local Ford dealership here in Edmonton and a super-caring parts desker named Jacob spent a full half hour trying to figure it out for me.
He went to the service desk for further guidance, and they could only point to the relay in the top right corner of the fuse box under the hood.
Finally, he took my VIN number and punched in the part number for the Active Air Suspension Relay and his Ford computer said this part was "NOT APPLICABLE" for my vehicle.
So, in short, my 2010 Expy does NOT have this relay.
Period.
That would explain why none of us can ever remember putting one in, and why I had such a hard time trying to figure out where it was located.
It's not located anywhere on my vehicle. Non-existent. Sigh.....
Perhaps SOME of the 2007-2014 or so Expeditions have it, and some only have the fuse-box relay. Even Rock Auto lists it as being for my vehicle. Baffling.
In any event, I'll seek other solutions as to why the passenger side sags and the driver's side is pumped to the max and why the compressor won't come on unless I goose it with direct voltage.

By looking at bloodhounds print shows there is only one pressure control and one relay so both sides should have equal pressure unless lines or struts have a problem.
Is there a chance you have self-leveling shocks on the rear? they have no air lines and were available on Expeditions.

Thanks Johns-exp, but I've been under the vehicle and it definitely is air suspension all the way. I'm turning my attention now to the (7l1z-3c142-a) electronic suspension control module, found in 2007-2013 Expeditions and Navigators, located under driver's side dash behind and upwards from the parking brake pedal.

Here's a picture of it:

It's the 'brains' of the air suspension system that tells it when to turn on the compressor, when to vent, make adjustments as you drive, how much to go up or down depending on ride-height sensors, etc.

I'm going to check a couple of more things, and then I'll probably swap one in to see if it makes a difference.

Wish me luck!

Any resolution Greg? There is a 34 page section of the 2nd gen service manual dedicated to servicing air ride.
