Hello, I own a 97 Expedition with 125,000 miles and am looking for some advice. Car caught on fire and burned out the brake line as well as possibly other damage, mechanic quoted me 1300 for fix, opinions on whether it is worth it to fix or time to move on?

many thanks!

Your vehicle insurance comprehensive coverage should pay for the repairs, minus your deductible.

If your not going the insurance route, you'll need to replace the parts the shop showed you on your estimate. Your looking at new. Brake lines, new calipers with pads, rotors, and probably a bunch of wiring. Fires or flooded vehicles can be a *****, due to the fact that the fire could have damaged more than the eye can see. The other option since you own your SUV , and not the bank is get the check from insurance, sell it as is to a wrecker or buy back program, and move along to a new vehicle. Maybe a newer expedition.
