Tires on a two year old one are approaching half way on cracking since they all seem to be cracked by year 4 or 5.

just too many reasons to only get that much off.

You can get a full set of high-end name brand new tires for like $500 installed if you know how to shop around online (psst: walmart website... online only deals)

That seems like a great deal! The first several replies had me feeling bad. I paid significantly more for a very similar vehicle ('18 Platinum, CPO, 4WD, Heavy Tow, 21K miles) just six months ago. And it took me a long time to find exactly the configuration I wanted so I went for it. I did get them to put all brand new tires on mine.

Oh, and I haven't had a single issue yet in the 6k miles I have driven it.

2 years ago I did on my Navigator, Michelin LTX. $103 / ea + install. Walmart.com

About a year ago, people on this forum questioned the reality of that.. but found Bridgestone and Goodyear for around the same price.

Just punch your tire size into Walmart.com search, what's on offer varies but usually there's plenty of good stuff for $100-130 / ea

That’s not for the bigger sizes and 18s aren’t really much if any cheaper. Tire rack has ones for maybe 135 if not a “big three” brand. Add installation and you’re way over 500 no doubt.

Also Walmart tires are special to wal mart and really aren’t a direct comparison to tire shop lines.

I now have in hand the repair and maintenance history from the dealer. It was first seen by the dealer after new at 1480 miles for a squeak in the RH front wheel. Then nothing until 18,222 miles for seat fabric repair, interior trim zipper repair of driver side seat back, body hood not aligned, drivers tpo seat airbag (backrest) always full and not reducing and liftgate working intermittently. Then nothing until the vehicle was turned in after lease expired at 26,903 miles when the dealer did the CPO inspection and oil change. I found two other oil changes at a quick lube at 15,500 miles and 24,200 miles, both of which were done with Amsoils' highest quality synthetic oil.

It's an odd hodgebodge of care for such an expensive vehicle. Given that it was a leased vehicle I'd have thought the owner would have been certain to follow the dealer mainenance schedule. Why he or she chose not to follow the maintenance schedule and then use expensive Amsoil synthetic at a drive through quick lube is beyond me. I don't know about this rig, I've got an uneasy feeling and think I'll pass.

The other unit we're looking at is an '18 limited with 22,369 miles for $41,375 and was owned by the wife of the manager at the dealership. Unlike the first vehicle, it doesn't have the CPO and it does have a full and complete service history all done at the dealership. It's not the screaming deal but I feel confident in the history of the vehicle.

The miser in me has a real hard time buying new but perhaps with the COVID-19 related incentives now is a time to reconsider. Thanks for all the feedback folks, much appreciated.

... get the Platy. Get the top shelf extended warranty —don’t even blink at that. You’ll love the rig. And you’ll love that extra 6 years of bumper to bumper warranty.
You can get that premium extended warranty for much cheaper since the vehicle is already a CPO.
How do I know? Because I did what you are considering 7 months ago.

I found the exact rig I wanted—but 6 hours away. It was a CPO Platy for 30k off the sticker. Spotty service records. I tacked on the extended warranty and drove it home.

I had to get a couple minor bugs fixed, and had the cam phaser replacement performed. It drives, looks and smells like a new one. And so far that warranty has PAID for itself! With only 100 bucks out of my pocket.

My 18 Plati has been at the dealer going on day 4 now. Originally it was to get the 100,000 km service done (all fluids and filters etc) plus the Cam phaser and freaking out mirror issue (being done again) and an alignment, so hopefully they just replaced the entire engine (lol). I would definitely get an extended warranty. That's not even a discussion. Also, just put on a set of Yoko Parada Spec X on the OE 22's and it drives fantastic!

The Mid to late 19’s got updated stuff. Cast aluminum oil pan, and a few other fixed parts. The 19’s are cheap/er now too I’d rather get that than the 18 going through new parts issues

IMO, CPO warranties are a significant value add, as long as they come from a credible source, such as Ford, Toyota, etc. the whole thing sounds good to me, but I would definitely have a mechanic I trust take a look at it.
before i bought my 2nd Gen a year ago, I paid 250 to my regular mechanic to do a pre-purchase inspection on it. Best 250 I ever spent. I bought the truck and I couldn't be happier.

One thing I learned is what you found on the carfax. they are hit or miss. no one HAS to report anything they do to carfax and if they don't, carfax has no way of knowing. As well, as you also saw, care and maintenance can be wildly inconsistent, even from a place like the one you are looking at where you'd expect them to at least provide a regular and consistent maintenance program. I don't understand it, but it is not uncommon.

Thats why you call a dealer service dept off hours and “check vin for recall status and BS with them about the data in the system” car fax is garbage.

my advice is get a max... get hd tow... get an fx4 or a platinum depending on what level of cab comfort you want. get either a cpo or low enough miler that you can still add factory ESP and just pay the 2-3k and get the 140000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. include all the stuff lights keys etc.

hd tow has so many upgrades its not even worth looking at one without it
platinum leather can't even be compared to the lower grade leather
platinum has the led headlights. so worth it
platinum has a 400hp factory tune.
fx4 will be easier to lift

i don't like ccd but at some point there will be an aftermarket solution. i hate the chrome but i wanted a super lux interior and i can eliminate chrome as i please. hd tow nicer leather and i won't drive anything without led's now. given those options i went platinum. i don't know what options your initial platinum had but 44k for a platinum max hd tow is a stupid steal and i doubt it exists. if it does id grab it immediately.

i shopped for a very long time and finally found a local trade in with 50k miles platinum max every option. i paid roughly 53k with 140000 bumper to bumper ESP. mileage doesn't scare me. and in fact one that's made it to fifty probably wasn't a lemon so those are my thoughts. hope its helpful

Input shaft broke in the Tranny, 5k for a rebuilt tranny

now oil leak behind timing chain, 1k in labor alone

@Calidad do you know where the 'mid/late' 19's build dates would be cut off? I signed papers on a used 2019 with 30k miles last week and am picking it up this week. Hopefully mine has all the updates!

Thats a good question I have no idea. I was totally shocked to see the Aluminum oil pan.
