Well, at least Toyota 3.4 twin turbo and Aisin 10 speed transmission do not have any other infamous problem yet except the Wastegate issue. Made in America and American brand names are always on my priority list. Can anybody convince me to buy a 2022/2023 Expedition instead? Thanks.

Have you looked into all the issues with the Tundra turbos? Cab off repair. Can't wait to see how invasive it is on the Sequoia. I was looking at older Sequoias but the back to back test drive ended up with the Expedition as a clear winner. I'll wait a bit till Toyota figures out that new engine platform and it's as reliable as the outgoing V8, but until then it's not something I'd be purchasing. One of the guys I mountain bike with is a Toyota tech and he said they are not a solid buy right now but they are working hard to solve the issues and it'll be reliable then, just not now.

Expedition has some problems but what mass produced vehicle doesn't.
The Expedition has more cargo room, more passenger room, better power, better towing capacity, and basically everything else. Do the research ON THE SPECS. Don't listen to MotorTrend or other ford-hating magazines and do your own spec research.
Ford developed this transmission with GM and it has been a great transmission. You have to understand a few things with numbers and data.
1- Sequoia sales in the US are about 10k+ annually.
2 - Ford sells a lot more expedition units in the US
3 - ALL cars have some sorts of issues and transmissions are the one area that is highly subjective to the driver. If the tow a lot in high heat with poor maintenance, etc. Of course there are transmission issues with normal driving.
4 - Most forums people are there to vent about issues. So you will find more threads on problems.
5 - Add in the 800,000+ Ford F150s sold in the US which have the same transmission. Then add in all the GM vehicles with the same transmission and it seems to me the Expedition Transmission is pretty solid!

You're far less likely to have reliability issues with a Toyota than a Ford. Knowing this, I still bought a Ford. As much as I want my vehicle to be bulletproof, I don't want to hate driving it. And I have hated the way every Toyota I have ever driven drives aside from a 4Runner. I am now searching for a crossover as a DD (Expedition will be relegated to work duty) and Toyota is once again out because I hate driving them.

To my knowledge, the biggest issue with the Expedition has been the cam phasers. This issue has been resolved (allegedly) with a new design iteration that is substantially different from the previous design. Having said that, I don't think the Expedition is bad apart from that issue. It's just complicated and people gather on forums because they have issues, so you wind up thinking everyone has issues. Having said that, I think the Expedition is fine if you get a warranty. There's nothing else that rivals its capability, especially if you're towing.
I’m driving my third expedition with my fourth being built this Friday. This one is a 2007 limited EL. First year of the EL. we have 118,000 miles on it now and have not had one engine or transmission problem on any of the three.
It tows my 30 ft travel trailer like it not behind. I also carry 6 high school boy golfers and their golf bags around for three months in the spring with room to spare.
Everyone wants different things in a car so you need to decide what you really want. For me the expedition has the best ride and room for everything I need.
It’s hard waiting since Jan 5 th when I ordered my 22 but I hope to keep the new one for 10 plus years so the wait is worth it for me.

Of all the big SUV's the expedition is the best. Power, towing and room are great. Yes the 18 to 20 models have the dreaded cam phaser issues but other than that my 18 has been great. (The revised cam mega cap has supposedly fixed cam phaser failure going from 3 to 4 bolts and creating proper seal)
This has nothing to do with anything other than my opinion but, I just can't get behind a Japanese truck or large suv. Don't like the styling.

Thank you all! After carefully reading all your posts, I decide to stick to Expedition (with a 8 year/125k extended warranty). America first.

It's a shame, the previous gen sequoia looked like a wet hippo, but holistically was a roomy, comfy, and reliably built truck. The new one actually looks good, but they took away the room, comfort and reliability. Also, we're not the only ones who'd choose the expy:

Like my Grandpa says, "We can make a cake out of crumbs (like the Sequoia".
We have the 8 year warranty on our Raptor and it is the best! Will never buy another vehicle without it.
I had a 2008 Sequoia and it was a great vehicle. I replaced it in 2019 with a Navigator. I did not consider the Sequoia because the design was too old. I am very happy with my Navigator.
I was very interested in the 2023 Sequoia redesign. Once I learned they used a solid rear axle, killed 3rd row seat room, and eliminated the fold flat 3rd row to accommodate the live axle, I was no longer interested at all. Big screw up Toyota.

Another deal breaker is 2023 Sequoia doesn't have 4WD Auto functionality. It's either 2WD or 4WD. Not friendly for people who live in northern states by all means.
You definitely need an extended warranty with Ford or GM. Glad I bought my 72 months/100k miles premium care warranty. Otherwise, my dealer would charge like $159 just to check on the codes. I still like the Expedition and I got compliment everywhere I drove.

Besides the solid rear axle, Toyota puts a battery pack under the third-row seat, which reduces the cargo space and third-tow comfort further.
I really loved the sequoia redesign for 2023 and was hoping to buy that instead of my expedition. But, after talking to my mechanic, who is also the head of our community college auto mechanics department, he (who loves Japanese made vehicles) was strongly against the new sequoia. He said the engine has a lot of problems, and felt some of the things they took away made the sequoia less desirable. Had my expy for 2 months and absolutely love it. It replaced my 4Runner and it’s much more comfy, better turning radius, etc.

I’m on my 3rd Expedition - I love my Timberline. I am a V8 guy but wow the 3.5 HO is a beast. I have a Gen 1 Raptor 6.2 that I will never sell (unless I get an allocation for a Raptor R) - the Timberline is a great combination of roominess, capability and power.
