I have looked for previous threads for recharging the air conditioning but to no joy.

Please could someone inform me as to what type of chemical I should use to recharge my 98 5.4 Expy and what pressure it should be re-charged to? I see some kits that yhou can buy from target that have a pressure gauge built into them.

Thank you

When you say chemical I assume you mean refrigerant. If so, your rig uses R134a. Now, your other question is impossible to answer. The pressure would depend on the air temperature outside, air temp inside and what the a/c was set on and fan speed.

You can use the kits at wal-mart or others, but without prior experience and knowledge, it won't be right.

Thanks for the info. I guess I should probably not try to refill the refrigerant on my own then....

You can get it close. Most of the time one can will get it close. Add a can and then see if your compressor is still cycling on and off.
