Since I might be the first person to do this I figured that I would post a picture for reference so that anyone else that thinks about it in the future can see an example.
This is the Alpine Halo iLX-F511 head unit. I used a mounting bracket from Best Buy that has the single din space on top and pocket at the bottom and I adjusted the screen so it sits as low as possible. I do still have room that I can reach behind the top of the screen and hit the buttons if I need to. There is a possibility that I would design and 3D print a mount for the buttons to go in the empty pocket and raise the screen above them but right now it's really not an issue for me. I think my next step will be to get the factor backup camera down to the large screen.
I just picked this up at the end of April 2022 mainly to use as a tow vehicle so I wanted the large screen and wireless Carplay to use for those trips.
