Another suspension thread....ugh

Ok, so I know there are a million suspension threads and I've read up on them. In fact when I got my Navigator it was one of the first things I looked at because my rear end sags.

I was all prepared to buy a coil conversion kit and get it installed. However, I was under my Navigator for the first time today doing something else when I spotted coil over shocks in the front and coil springs in the rear. WTF? Did somebody already do the conversion? It would explain why the air ride switch was off.....but if so why am I still saggy in my rear and how can I fix it?

Yes, someone already did the conversion. I'd replace the rear springs and add a lift if it's in your plans! The front end looks lifted though...

Im with the monkey ^^^^! Someone swapped it for you. Buy the replacement coils to bring the back end up and might as well get the lift ones.

your front end is not lifted, its a weird look thing that I had to get used too. Your rears are bad and sagging, that is true, but its making the front look higher, but only sleightly.

I thought my rear end was bad, but then I looked closer at the trim, and the front wheel well is larger than the rear, and it makes the front look lifted - even though its not and its perfectly level.

You could always hide the sagging issue by taking a few turns out of the torsion bars and dropping the front end. That would take some weight off the saggy rear coils and level your ride out.

sounds like I have a few options here. I can replace my rear springs with new ones or lift springs. Or I can take a couple turns out of the torsions and see if it will settle. Hmm......decisions decisions....haha.

Best option would be to replace springs and add lift spacers so you can take them out if you'd like

The only lift spring you are going to find is the 5" springs from Fabtech and that's way too much lift for what you are needing. Just get some rear spring spacers. I used the ones from Supreme Suspension.

I assumed as much. I was secretly hoping someone knew of new Rancho 4" springs, or of a company that makes custom springs.

Has anyone tried the springs from a Tahoe, FJ80, or the new Rams?

That's been asked before and nobody had any response. Custom springs or maybe the stock springs can be stretched. I never looked into it. I just went with the spacers because it was simple. The rear needs to sit 1" lower in the rear otherwise you will get a raked look. So a 4" lift would be 4" in the front, 3" in the rear, etc.

Yah, spacers will serve ya well, I have them on mine as well. I always wondered why my roofline looks level and the truck measures level but doesn't look it.

Yeah I'm actually more interested in spring rate in relation to carrying the weight of a custom bumper with gas can(s), spare tire, etc., and get some lift out of it as well.
