Anyone heard of the "Q-chip" which helps improve MPG?

Walking to my truck this morning after breakfast and starting chatting with a guy who drove a NICE Red Excursion who was parked next to me. It was a 2000 with a modified hood (2005) and looked sweet (should have taken a pic). Anyway we were talking and he told me he had a "Q-chip" installed a couple years back which increased his highway MPG to close to 20. It was hot as hell out so we parted ways quickly, but anyone here know of or had experience with this so called "Q-chip"? I did a quick google and didn't come up with much. Comments appreciated. Cheers!

Was it gas or diesel? I can see a diesel getting that milage in an excursion but not a gas motor.

gas - he says the diesel is almost impossible to find and he thinks the PMG thing is over-rated...

20 mpg, even highway out of a V10 is a complete lie. I can see it maybe somehow if he had the 5.4 in there (they came with them too) but that is still a huge stretch. And the PSD motors are known to get 20+mpg with super dutys. My co-worker's 6.0L powering a F-250 supercab was getting 21 MPG highway before he did a 6" lift and huge tires.

And as I've said before, any mail order chip is going to be meh at best. Usually the whole point of a mail order chip is to just get close enough to get you to a dyno tuner who will then finish the job properly. Edge programmers and their like are good products as well but nothing beats a custom dyno tune. On a stock motor that is probably overkill though...
