Are bilsteins really worth it?

If it matters, KYB in the day was my second choice (to Bilsteins). KYB used to also make a very good shock.

I replaced all 4 corners with Bilsteins, great on smooth roads helped with stability, other than that they are terrible on any road that is not well maintained. I feel they are valved to harshly. Any roughness in the road the shocks do not give and sends shockwaves through you and the vehicle.
