Audio Install

I considering installing a DVD player and screen in my 97 expe. Normally this isnt a problem but this is what I want to do. Move the AC/Heater controls to the "useless pocket" Installing a LCD monitor in the dash that would take the place that old radio is located and installing the DVD/CD player (1 disc) where the AC/Heater controls where. I will contact a local audio retailer. I just wanted to know if anyone has attempted and or completed this before.

Never tried installing a dvd, but I do have two questions, 1. what do you mean by "useless pocket". and 2. why do you want one in the dash? Personally, and I know I'm opening a can of worms, I don't want anymore distractions up front. Road conditions, traffic, screaming kids, and other peoples erratic driving are enough for me.

The "useless pocket" is on some 97-2002 expe. I have a 97 EB. The "useless pocket" is to the down and to the right about 3 inches of the steering wheel. My reasoning is something different. I wont be watching movies while driving. Just something to have is all
