Speaking of cops idling for long periods of time in fords, you guys hear about the carbon monoxide issue with police and their ford explorers? Just google carbon monoxide explorers...
Point is I wouldn’t be sitting with my kids in any stationary running vehicle for significant amounts of time, like watching a movie.
And I don’t know which is funnier in this thread- the guy that can’t accept that it is not 1950 anymore or the guy that hangs out on message boards of products he will never buy. Wow guys
Funny, but no big deal as some make it. I'm that 1950 guy you referred to but it's not that I wish it were 1950. It's not like I live during that time. But there are certain attributes of certain time frames that are better than today and some worse. I just don't believe in saying everything is better because it's new and high-tech and its current and it's today so the world must be a better place. I can pick and choose and point out and gripe about all different aspects of all different times.
The other guy, Moose, not having a current generation Explorer but hanging out here makes more sense if you think about how these forums work.
Only if you're going to start a new thread do some look to see and put it in the appropriate category. Once a person is a member they typically either click on new posts or they get an email notification on their phone telling them there is a reply in a thread they have posted in.
It's not like we search to find a thread about an electronic feature on a fourth generation.
It pops up, we read it, and if we have any ideas on the answer, or if we have a comment on our opinion whether we'd like to feature or not, or even if we think the feature should exist on cars... We reply.
This is where some get quite uptight.
They may wish for people to stay exactly on topic but I don't because we learn more about more variety of things.
By paying attention to threads on things you don't even own, you are better able to help friends who have these vehicles that ask you when they have issues and you know what to look for a lot of the common fixes when you finally end up with those vehicles 8 or 10 years down the road when you're willing to pay what they're selling for.
That's how a lot of us do it. I get calls and texts weekly from friends when they have an issue or question about their car since I have been repairing their vehicles since around 1990.
A lot of end up on a forum after searching for a problem they are having with their vehicle.
If they don't find the answer they often join and post to get more specific info or help. Many of them are gone after their issue is solved.
Others like myself and Moose use this to kill down time and just for relaxation and enjoyment.
That's why I mentioned a lot of people on here must have never had the hobby of CB radios.
It was similar to how some of us use the forums. We talk about anything and everything, Bounce from topic to topic, then go back and talk about the same things over and over again.
There was just another thread in the past week or so where they were talking about the carbon monoxide and fumes getting into the vehicles. There was some talk about rear or side exit too.
From what I recall there's not a really super great fix for it but I didn't focus on those threads to thoroughly.
