So I my next purchase now that I got the engine and drive train all freshened up is a set of some auxiliary/Offroad lights. I am leaning towards the good old KC hilighters but I am also interested in some LED lights. to me it seems like the LED lights will be brighter but not project out like a regular light. Tell me what you think!?

Also I am trying to decide where to mount, thinking of putting 2 on the front bumper. but I also like the looks of a roof light bar. post up some picks of your light install lets make this the official light thread!

If you can, get HID lights, vice standard halogen bulbs. HID bulbs are going to output tons more light at a given wattage than halogens (ie, 35W HIDs output about 3X the light of a 55W halogen when looking at lumens). Worst case, you can get the housings that you like and then mount in your own HID bulbs. All you have to focus on then is getting a housing that has a size HID bulb to fit in it.

I personally like the Hella Black Magics as you can normally run around with them and not have covers on them. MOst cops think because the lenses are black, that they have covers on them (which is required in most states for any light that is not a headlight or fog light).

HHHmm you got me thinking now......I have a few sets of ballasts and hid bulbs in the garage I have done a few retrofits. And well manaed to get a pretty good collection of HID stuff left over. I suppose if I can just find the right housing the rest is history.

I really like that light bar on the excursion I was thinking of fabing something lke that up and just painting it white to match the rig.

This is what i got so far. Just two KCs 130w long range beams. I just mounted them to my front bumper. I plan on getting the factory clear fogs and some flood beam lights to go on the bull bar.

everytime i see that i think its on the bull bar. haha i know its not but it gives that illusion. so pretty much you can get what ever 6 inch light you can and put it behind the grill. on top you have some more options, but limited to size and how many lights you want.

Now that just looks smooth. I need a roof rack. So a set up like that would be great.4 in front 2 in back and 1 on each side :)

I kept my setup simple. Granted, the Hella Black Magics are great lights to have. No one gives me any grief about not having covers on them.

Thinking about moving them over to a pre-runner setup if I keep the truck. I have all the tubing, bender and welder, so, it would be just a matter of taking some time and making my own custom setup. We'll see. Gotta do some looking around and see what I like and what I don't.
