Greetings,

I just picked up my first expedition a few days ago. I got a new 2020 xlt. I have cloth seats with bench seats for the 2nd and 3rd rows. I really like this truck but the lack of an arm rest in the middle seats is really bothering me. My previous Tahoe had a fold down arm rest in the middle seat for the back passengers . Why ford did not put one in this expedition is beyond me.

Anyways, my question is what solutions are there for an arm rest? I like the bench seat and do not want a center console on the back seats. I can't seem to find any solutions for this arm rest problem.

Thanks .

I agree, this is something that has always annoyed me the past 3 gens of the expy. Theres no reason ford omits this, in only this product(and nav). When i would sit in the sec row, i would fold the center seat down and use that as an armrest. Its low with nkw cupholder, but it was more comfy.

I may have an idea. Could you take a picture and post it here? I want to confirm something first.

Perfect. This might seem wild, but what if you found a replacement center headrest (at a salvage lot, or online) and replaced the actual padded headrest with a homemade cupholder? you could even go a bit further and make an elevated pad that would raise the "armrest" when the middle seat is folded down.

Why would you put arm rests on a bench seat? Its a bench to be a bench....

I'm assuming so that it is on par with 99% of bench seats in the industry. From a ford Fusion, to a 90's silverado, it is common that when the middle seat is not in use it can be folded down to access additional cupholders and somewhere to rest you arm

Ford offers arm rests for $1,595 if you need them! lol

I'm not following the headrest idea. I don't think it would reach back far enough.

If uou fold the seat down, you can strap or velcro pads on the back of the seat parallel to the outboard seats. With the headrest out, you could use the holes from the headrest to add cupholders that could be removed if needed.

I have had my Expy for 9 months and never noticed that there was no fold down arm rest/cup holders in the second row! I will have to verify when I leave the office. Previously owned 3 different full-size GMs (2 Suburbans and 1 Tahoe) and the fold down arm rest was the biggest deterrent, aside from a backhand from the driver's seat, to my sons fighting on every long road trip. Fortunately, the boys are now adults and not included in most trips.
