Now have close to 100k miles on my 2007 limited and maintenance is adding up. I'm not opposed to spending money to properly maintain it, but the costs have been shocking and my mechanic is equally surprised by the poor level of engineering for my year model, specifically with the larger engine I possess.
During warranty period, A/C would stop blowing cold air. Ford dealership couldn't find the problem although it's a known issue. I installed bigger compressor that did not help. There is a faulty switch under the dash, but the labor to repair is high so I've left it alone. Explain that to three young kids driving in TX. Ford should do the right thing and fix my vehicle now as the issue was reported while under warranty.
Just had major tune up. Two piece spark plugs extremely difficult to get out and special tool needed. It took a coupke days for my mechanic to complete the job and I'm lucky that parts didn't end up in my engine. Very costly. I put in one piece plugs.
Just replaced all the hoses, which is expected for the age of the vehicle. Problem is, they were designed so poorly that Ford only offers and new hose system (similar to BMW) where they clamp on with special fittings. My cost was over $1k for the job bc of all the custome hoses, and need to replace thurmostat.
Apparently my engine is at risk, again an enginnering screw up. Unsure how to explain, but the engine may lose compression and the fix is just as expensive and a complete engine replacement. Apparently, the fact that I change the oil religiously helps, but it's not a good feeling.
Overall, Ford continues to avoid any responsibility so will be looking for a different make next time.
