Had poor experience getting Bilsteins istalled for the rear of my 2012 XLT 4X4 (as posted on this forum from others). Contacted Joseph Smith at Bilstein; he claimed to have put in a request for Bilstein to make rear loaded assemblies (like 6112). Now is a good time for everyone to contact Bilstein to push for loaded assemblies to avoid confusion and headache trying to install just the shock.

Do you have a contact (email?) for Joseph Smith? My rears are leaking and I'd like the loaded assembly option.

My 13 is due now and I been looking at KYB due to the fact that Bilstien does not have the loaded assm. This would be awesome if they did it quick enough.

Well in my case, I don't have the factory parts anymore, so I can't swap to Bilsteins.

Here's a reply from Bilstein...looks like anyone interested can submit a product request but nothing currently in the works.

Hi Tom,

Bilstein currently has no plans to make any pre-loaded assemblies for any vehicles at this time. If you and your fellow Expedition enthusiasts would like to submit a product request form as well, you may do so through the link below. Please not that that the only way to pull up a product request form is to look up a vehicle that we do not make products for, that is why you will see a Crown Victoria listed. Rest assured that the product request form is submitted independently of the vehicle you happen to look up on the catalog. That is why the form asks you for specific vehicle information. Thank you.

Here's some other info he wanted to share...

While you are there, there is some other information I provided the original poster that did not seem to make it’s way in to the forum. Almost all Bilstein products are designed with use of the OEM coils and mounting hardware in mind. Even the 6112 series is not a true loaded assembly because they are all meant to use the OEM mounting hardware. The only products we offer that come somewhat loaded are our 8112 series shocks but those are $1k + per corner and do require fine tuning for ride height/ dampening adjustment after installation.

Kind Regards,

I ran into the OEM parts/application issue years ago when installing Bilsteins on my 07 Expedition. Luckily my rears were FOMOCO and I was able to resuse every thing. Unfortunately the front had a crappy replacement quick strut assembly that wouldn't work with the Bilsteins. Scouring the internet yeilded that Bilstein does sell individual spring plates thay fit on the strut body. A post led me to Bilstein p/n E4FT1Z011A03 for a spring plate. The quick strut springs still didn't fit the new plate so I ended getting a used pair front FOMOCO struts off eBay for the springs and plate.
