I posted this in the "drivetrain" forum but haven't had much luck....

Hi, I have a 1999 Expedition 4x4, 145K. The truck is the version that doesn't have 2wd so it always is in awd. Well in the last few months I have been getting a noise, somewhat of a rubbing noise when I am pulling away from a stop and the front wheels are turned. If I pull away straight, like from a stop light, I get no noise but as soon as I pull away from a stop and the wheels are turned I get the rubbing or grinding. I am thinking front diff because as the front tires are turned one is traveling a greater distance??/
Any ideas on what is going on? I was just thinking of doing the brown wire mod and cuyt that wire for the time being and see if the noise goes away which would support my suspicion as then when pulling away and turning the wheels there wouldn't be any "force" on the front diff-
EDIT:
I did cut the "brown Wire" that goes to the top of the transfer case with no change in symptoms
Thoughts??
