This is for my 17 EL Limited. 15k on the motor at the time and 5200 miles on the oil sample. Oil used was Castrol Magnatec. My truck has been tuned for the bulk of that 5200 miles and Ive towed my toy hauler loaded to the max (9000lbs) multiple times on that oil. So the motor has done some work. When I sent in the sample I told them I wasn't interested in extended oil change intervals so that's why there is no mention of that. I plan to stick to around 5k oil change intervals. With that said and the results from this report I figure I could go a lot longer on the oil. Also the lack of fuel dilution is a very good sign. Blackstone seems to think the motor is in great shape.

Good post.....I think most know that today's modern oils are pretty damned good when it comes to resisting tension, compression and even sheer forces but where they really shine is their ability to maintain their qualities even under repeated heat cycles & adhere and remain.....the issue for us is getting the dirt out....the filter still needs to be replaced often...or else.

Has anyone sent Blackstone a sample, from a long interval with low miles(something like, 1 year with 1500mi)? I am curious, if oil can go longer time wise. Living in Western NY, my summer car/Mustang and Harley do not get much use. I use full Syn Royal Purple in both and always wonder, if I am dumping good oil. It is still purple sometimes.

Only one way to find out... let us know what BSL has to say after your next bike service. Curious minds want to know.

My S2000 likes Royal Purple 5W-30 and has never been the full service interval in a 12-month period so I change the oil and filter then and don't wait for the Maintenance Minder on the dash. Oil analysis shows no abnormal wear.

But I'm putting 4000-5000 miles on the car every summer. If I was only putting 1500 miles on it she'd be filled with the cheapest conventional oil WalMart stocks and I'd be changing the filter every other change. :)

I've seen evidence or at least claims that cold weather permanently changes the oil. I don't believe this but the oil gets changed at 12 months anyway.
