Looks like they raise compression which would demand higher octane gas. Any 8 thread alternatives in a stock configuration?

To answer your question....no. They no longer make non-pi heads. PI is just the designation ford gave the new heads. (performance improved)

The change in combustion chamber design decreased the cc's over non-PI heads so they changed the pistons to keep 9 to 1 compression. They started using the pi heads on the expys in 99 I believe. Thats why it increases compression on earlier models. But 10 to 1 is still very streetable. Can't tell you if you would have to lower timing to live on regular unleaded or not though. If you did use these heads you would have to change to later model PI intake.

Ok so if I have to... I will rework the stock heads and use the plug inserts. Hope I don't have to though!
Still nothing from the bank on the lien release...... tapping foot.....we did have a holiday slow things down though.
