I am new to this forum and was curious if anyone else here is using BluePilot or any other OpenPilot based software for hands free driving?

My BlueCruise subscription just expired, so I bought a Comma 3x and a Q4 harness from comma.ai to replace my subscription. The installation took about 45 minutes and was super easy. I have been using it for just over a week now and have a few hundred miles of testing so far. I am blown away with how much better it is than BlueCruise. I now have hands free diving on all roads and all weather conditions unlike BlueCruise that only works when it wants to and only on specific mapped roads.

I am curious if anyone else has tried it and how your experience has been so far.

For anyone that is interested, it looks like it should work on all 2022-2024 Expeditions that are equipped with Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0.

Isn't that the same as saying the car needs to have BlueCruise already in order to do this? I'm interested but I have a Limited, and BlueCruise is only on Platinum.

Does your Limited have ACC and lane centering? It looks like the necessary package for the Comma system to work was available on the Limited trim.

Below is a snipit of what I found doing a quick search on Google on the Expedition Limited trim.

  • Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 (Available on Limited): This upgrade adds capabilities such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering Assist, and Intersection Assist.
As long as your Expedition/Navigator is a 2022-2024 with the package, it should work.

Here is a video that Linus Tech Tips recently published that gives a high level overview of how it all works:

Here is another video that SnazzyLabs did that compares Comma.ai to Tesla AutoPilot, Tesla FSD, and a couple of other manufacturers versions of Self-Driving assist:

$1100 to buy the Comma 3x and Q4 adapter is a little pricy, but in my opinion, it is well worth it.

I asked perplexity.ai about this and here is its reply. My Owner Manual does not include the text "Pilot360" but I'm certain that I have it.

To check if your Ford has **Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0** installed using the **owner's manual**:

- **Look for a dedicated section** on driver-assist features, often titled “Driver Assistance Features” or “Co-Pilot360 Technology.” Ford’s manuals detail all equipment included with your specific model and trim[1][6].
- In this section, **search for features** specifically tied to Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 or Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0, such as:
- Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering
- Evasive Steering Assist
- Speed Sign Recognition
- Intersection Assist
- BlueCruise or Active Drive Assist (in some models)[4][6][7]
- The presence of operational instructions for these systems—that match the description for Assist 2.0 or its “Active”/“Prep” package—indicates your vehicle is equipped[1][6].

If your owner’s manual references these features and provides operational guidance, your vehicle is equipped with the package. If not found, your Ford likely does not have Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 installed.

**Tip:** If you remain uncertain after reviewing the manual, Ford advises consulting your dealer with your VIN for definitive confirmation[1][6].

I have not heard of this before but am interested! What does it add beyond what you get with the Adaptive Cruise Control w/ Lane Assist? I take it that it lets you can take your hands off the wheel when in Adaptive Cruise. Any other features, like following a programmed route and stopping at stop lights, or does it just maintain position in the lane on a freeway?

The Comma device is infinitely better than Bluecruise. Way cheaper over time, too. No subscription required.

In the Linus video it nearly drove them off the road multiple times, didn't turn on fast corners, turned into turning lanes, didn't turn enough on a roundabout nearly t-boning a car waiting. The fact there are other people driving around with this whilst I'm on the road is terrifying.

When this slams you into another car, your insurer will tell you to take a hike.
