New to the forum and just picked up my silver 2018 Expedition Limited 302A a few days ago. I've read all the documentation associated with the Rear Entertainment System (RES) and am under the impression that Sync 3 needs to connect to the RES as a Bluetooth audio source in order to play movie sound through the vehicle speakers. The RES audio works fine through the wireless headphones, but I can't get Sync 3 to locate the RES as a Bluetooth audio source. I have enabled Bluetooth on the RES and it provides the Bluetooth code to use, but Sync 3 doesn't locate the RES to allow me to enter the code. Documentation is minimal on this topic and the only RES specific manual I find (link below) doesn't elaborate on this issue.

Any suggestions of what to try?

After spending additional time experimenting with Sync 3, I was able to get it to recognize the RES. However, it seems that the sound via the Bluetooth connection is 1-2 seconds behind the picture on the screens, which isn't ideal. Has anyone figured out how to solve this issue or to have a wired input to Sync 3 to avoid the lag issue with the sound?

There is a setting on the RES that corrects the voice delay when connected to the vehicles sound system. It is in the menu on the right side of the screen under bluetooth. I set mine to 1410 ms delay Works great now.

I have experimented with that setting my initial thoughts where that it seems to make mine worse. On my RES, the audio is lagging behind the DVD video and the audio delay adjustment seems to increase the amount of the delay so that the audio is even further behind the video. I'll try it again and see if it helps.

I have attached a .pdf of the manual for the RES which gives basic information. Page 20 describes how to enable Bluetooth audio (menu on left side of screen). After a video is playing, there is another menu on the right side of the screen (see screenshot of "Context Menu" on page 13 of manual) that allows you to select Bluetooth again. After selecting Bluetooth in the "Context Menu" on the right side of the screen, it allows the user to select an audio delay to better sync the audio with the video. Others have mentioned trying between 1400-1500 milli-seconds delay as a starting point. Hope this is helpful.

I am having the same issue. I found where to adjust sound delay ms in the bluetooth context menu, but can't find a good number to set the sound delay ms so that it matches the video sound....

Did you start at about 1400 ms and work your way up? When I initially started messing with this setting, I was only trying up to about 100 ms, and it didn't seem to help, but based on recommendations from others on the forum, I tried 1400-1500 ms and it seems to work ok in my RES.

i went with 1460 and that seemed to work. One of my screens won't power on, that manual you gave as a PDF (thanks by the way scottdm) talks about a fuse located in-line. any idea where that fuse is? the driver side headrest screen works its just the other that has the no power issue.
